| Abstract: | An abnormally high extinction coefficient (almost 100 times as high as in solution) has been found for chlorophyll and pheophytin adsorbed on a smooth metal. These and some literature data suggest this phenomenon may be rather general, particularly for substances having a system of conjugated bonds. |
