Abstract: | E xposure of pig kidney cells in monolayer culture to far-red light (FRL), near 750 nm, was found to increase the incidence of chromatid aberrations and aberrant cells [1]. Dose–response curves for cell populations predominantly in early S reached a maximum at incident energies of ca. 50 mJ cm-2. We show here that the incorporation of tritiated thymidine by the nuclei of pig kidney cells in monolayer also is inhibited by FRL, with a similar dose-response maximum. |
