Abstract: | Optimum three-dimensional flight of supersonic aircraft is considered, particularly the minimization of flight time, which is important in the climbing and turning performance of a supersonic fighter. General properties of optimum three-dimensional flight are presented, and the maximum principle is used. Optimal control is obtained by a geometrical method using the domain of manoeuvrability. |
