Transient magnetic resonance of a photoexcited quartet state

Abstract:Wide-band detection following pulsed laser excitation of the decacyclene anion has yielded transient election paramagnetic resonance signals which we assign to an excited quartet state. The spin-spin coupling constant D and the path of intersystem crossing from doublet to quartet have been determined.
