Synthesis, crystal structure and in vitro antitumor activity of a novel organotin(IV) complex with 9-hexyl-9H-carbazole-3-carboxylic acid

Abstract:9-Hexyl-9H-carbazole-3-carboxylic acid (LCOOH) and its complex with Ph3Sn(OH), [Ph3SnO2CL] (I), were synthesized. The structure of complex I was solved by single-crystal X-ray diffraction determination, indicating that I shows the discrete framework. Furthermore, this complex was tested in vitro for its cytotoxic activity, using human hepatocellular carcinoma cell line (BEL-7402) and human hepatocellular liver carcinoma cell line (HepG2); 5-fluorouracil was used as a positive control substance. This complex showed cytotoxicity greater than that of 5-fluorouracil.
