Investigation of quadratic stark effect on Rb D2 atomic line

Experimental study of the influence of an electric field on the atomic hfs levels of D₂ line of Rb atom, transitions 5S _1/2 ? 5P _3/2, has been performed. For this purpose a sapphire cell with internal electrodes used to produce a constant electric field was elaborated. By using the saturation absorption technique the frequency shifts of all 12 atomic D₂ line transitions were recorded. The results are compared with the theory.
