Synthesis and characterization of poly([3H]-thiazole-2-thione)s

The reaction of dithiocarbamate salts with α-haloketones is extended to (i) dithiocarbamate salts with bis(α-haloketones), (ii) bis(dithiocarbamate salts) with α-haloketones, and (iii) bis(dithiocarbamate salts) with bis(α-haloketones). Both (i) and (ii) give bis(3H]-thiazole-2thiazole-2-thiones) in high yields, and (iii) gives the corresponding polymers which are described and characterized.
