Abstract: | A very smooth (111) titanium-rich surface was obtained by annealing SrTiO3 single crystals in UHV. The surface structure was investigated with SEM, STM and LEED and was found to consist of terraces, interrupted by multi-unit-cell high steps, obviously a result of step bunching. The surface unit cell, is enlarged as a result of our particular preparation procedure. Received: 18 December 1996/Accepted: 18 December 1996 |
