Electrical resistance of grain boundaries in platinum

In platinum strips and wires subjected to long annealing the electrical resistance of grain boundaries was measured by a direct method. The measurement shows that the concentration of impurities on grain boundaries may attain relatively large values, which are very variable in different parts of the sample.
