| Abstract: | This review summerizes petroporphyrin synthesis, and deals mainly with the preparation of porphyrins tearing five - membered exocyclic rings: Deoxophylloervthro - etioporphyrin (DPEP) . Both applications and limitations of each approach are discussed. |
