Abstract:ZSM-35 zeolite was synthesized in a non-aqueous system composed of ethyldiamine-SiO_2-Al_2O_3-Na_2O and triethylamine. The kinetics of crystallization of ZSM-35 was studied by XRD, SEM, IR and DTA-TG. Zeolite ZSM-35 and natural ferrite are shown to be closely related having a similar faulted structure. The crystallization process was clearly revealed by the DTA-TG curves, and crystal growth could be followed by XRD. The IR band at about 550cm~(-1) increased with the time of crystallization. During crystallization, the molar ratio of SiO_2/Al_2O_3 in the solid phase did not change, and no aluminosilicate polyanions was found in the liquid phase. These results show that the crystallization of ZSM-35 zeolite during its synthesis in non-aqueous system follows a typical solid phase transformation mechanism.
