Abstract:This paper presents the analysis and experimental results about fractures of the instrument panel of a light automobile body. The reason is found by FEM and modal testing methods. A new instrument panel design method is suggested with consideration about available production line conditions. The theoretical analysis shows that the new one will be more resistant. The modal testing conforms to the FEM modal.
