Abstract: | The penetration ability of indomethacin in neutral and positively charged monolayers has been studied. Neutral monolayers of cholesterol and dipalmitoyl phosphatidyl choline present a slight but significant increase of surface pressure. The presence of stearylamine in the films results in an increase of surface pressure due to an electrostatic effect between the carboxylic anion of indomethacin and the polar head group of the stearylamine. These values can afford a reference point to choose the best lipid composition of liposomes encapsulating indomethacin to avoid the drug causing leakage of liposomes. |
