EFFECTS OF COMPATIBILIZERS ON THE MORPHOLOGY AND PROPERTIES OF CORE -SHELL TYPE COPOLYMER TOUGHENED NYLON -6
Abstract:Compatibilzing effeCts of diglycidyle ether of bisphenol-A (DGEBA) epoxy resins and Phenoxy resin on the blends of Nylon-6 and core-shell type MBS impact mwhfier, based on polybutadiene core and on PMMA shell, was studied interms of morphology, mechanical, rheological and thermal properties. Compatibilizers have proved useful for the purpose that MBS impact mwhfier must be appropriately dispersed in and coupled to Nylon-6 in order to toughen the Nylon-6 effectively'Scanning and transaction electron micrographs show that impact modifier exhibits a more regUlar and finer dispersion when DEGBA epoxy and Phenoxy resins were added.The blends also exhibit supper toughness With the addition of compatibilizers, whichseems to be attributable to both reduce impact modifier pasticle size and improveinterfacial adhesion.
