Abstract: | We continue to verify the method for calculating the scattering cross sections that is based on the Gaussian approximation of path integrals upon calculation of the electronic excitation cross sections. For this purpose, we calculate the electronic excitation cross sections of the 1s → 2s, 2p, 3s, 3p, and 3d transitions in the hydrogen atom using more exact Gaussian approximations for the Coulomb interaction and atomic states. The results show that this method allows one to obtain good agreement with data available in the literature. Comparison with our previous data shows that the use of the refined Gaussian expansions improves the calculation results. |
