Abstract: | A highly efficient, easily recoverable and reusable Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticle‐supported Cu(I) catalyst has been developed for the synthesis of quinazolinones and bicyclic pyrimidinones. In the presence of supported Cu(I) catalyst (10 mol%), amidines reacted with substituted 2‐halobenzoic acids and 2‐bromocycloalk‐1‐enecarboxylic acids to generate the corresponding N‐heterocycle products in good to excellent yields at room temperature in DMF. In addition, the supported Cu(I) catalyst could be recovered at least 10 times without significant loss of its catalytic activity. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. |
