α-clustering in the ground state of 40Ca

The anomalous large angle scattering observed in ⁴⁰Ca(α,α) is studied in the frame of a semi-microscopic model taking into account the presence of α-correlations in the ground state of ⁴⁰Ca. The calculations, performed between 18 and 29 MeV, assert the potential, non resonant nature of the phenomenon.
