Valley selection by linear optical pumping in PbTe |

| Abstract: | Due to the anisotropy of optical matrix elements, selective population of valleys is possible in multivalley semiconductors under linearly polarized light excitation. We observe this effect by measuring the linear polarization ratio of recombination light of a PbTe sample at low temperature. |
