Abstract: | The asymmetrically distributed Bragg-reflector (DBR) laser is analyzed by using the coupling-mode theory. Threshold solution for the required laser gains are presented. Numerical computations show that the asymmetrical geometry of the laser considered here allows for optimization of the laser characteristics such as lowering the threshold gains and providing the unidirectional operation. |
