Influence of moving dislocations on the nuclear spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame

Abstract:Dislocation motion at various velocities in Na23Cl single crystals was studied using the spin-locking technique. The resulting spin-lattice relaxation time in the rotating frame, T1?, is strongly dependent on the plastic deformation rate ?e, but not on the plastic strain ?. The experimental results are in accord with a theoretical expression for T1? based on the relaxation model of Rowland and Fradin for atomic diffusion.
