Abstract: | The problem investigated is that of two Schwarzschild black holes of massesm1 andm2m1, which are initially at rest on a time-symmetric spacelike hypersurface. An asymptotic formula asm20 is found for the maximum separation betweenm1 andm2 such that a connected component of the apparent horizon encloses bothm1 andm2. The problem is solved numerically. |
