Abstract:The experimental setup and the experimental results of a Ti: sapphire laser pumped by four flashlamps are presented. The Ti: sapphire rod is grown by Czochralsky method, and cut for φ 10× 163mm. The cavity is made up of teflon powder with diffuse reflectivity of 98%. The discharge pulse-width of the lamp series is 10 microseconds. When input energy is 320 J, the laser produces 1. 73 J output per pulse, with efficiency of 0. 6%,repetition rate of 1 Hz, tunable range of 700-1000 nm. Q -switching of the laser is also demonstrated.
