Abstract: | A decomposition of the induced absorption bands of zinc oxide powders and ZnO-based temperature-control coatings of space
vehicles containing organic and inorganic binders is performed after irradiation by protons. The influence of the type of
energy losses on the laws governing the formation of color centers following irradiation of the coatings by protons at different
energies is demonstrated. Aspects in the growth of the intensity of the individual components as a function of the proton
flux are studied. It is established that different types of electron and vacancy color centers obey power and exponential
laws. The buildup of free electrons is described by a power law.
