Photographic observation of the growth of GaP-Needles from the wet hydrogen process

GaP-needles were grown by the transport of GaP material with hydrogen in an open tube system. The needle growth was observed with a camera. Some needles were discovered whic grew without a visible Ga-droplet on their tips. It is assumed that these needles grew by the surface diffussion of GaP-complexes along the side planes of the needles.
