Abstract:The results of theoretical and experimental studies of plasma heating by nonuniform laser radiation and the symmetrizing effect of a laser prepulse on the uniformity of heating of thin foils, which simulated thin-shell laser inertial-confinement fusion (ICF) targets, are presented. The high efficiency of symmetrization by a prepulse was demonstrated both experimentally and theoretically. __________ Translated from Preprint No. 16 of the P. N.
