Liquid refractometry: an approach for a continuous measurement

A method is described for obtaining an accurate real-time measurement of the refractive index of liquids. It is based on a modification of the Pulfrich refractometer. The optical arrangement is suitable for in-line industrial applications where a continuous measurement is required. Some experimental results are presented which confirm the feasibility of the method.
