On the Focusing Effect of Gravitational Waves

We show that a suitable choice of the initial data from the past null infinity of Christodoulou’s work on the formation of black holes (The formation of black holes in general relativity. Monographs in Mathematics, European Mathematical Society, Zürich, 2009) will lead to the formation of a near Schwarzschild region up to the past null infinity.
