On radiation of electromagnetic and electroacoustic waves in a plasma

Summary Radiation from current distributions in a lossless compressible plasma media is considered. A linearized theory is used such that the isotropic electron plasma is regarded as a single fluid continuum. It is found that a considerable portion of the power is radiated as an electro-acoustic type wave. Some specialized results of other investigators are recovered.The research reported in this paper was sponsored by the Air Force Cambridge Research Laboratories, Bedford, Massachusetts, under contract PRO-62-201.
