Use of chiral acetylenic sulfoxides as 2-carbon synthon in the asymmetric synthesis of alkaloids |

Abstract: | Addition of (R)-HCYCSOR (R = o-O2NC6H4, p-MeC6H4) to 3,4-dimethoxyphenethylamine and tryptamine gave the Michael adducts I and II, resp. I and II underwent diastereoselective cyclization. by F3CCO2H to give the isoquinolines III (R1 = RSOCH2, R2 = H; R1 = H, R2 = RSOCH2) and corresponding pyridoindoles IV. IV (R1 = RSO2CH2, R2 = H) was reduced to (+)-tetrahydroharmane (IV, R1 = Me, R2 = H). |
