Abstract:	The mechanism of the reaction between the organocobaloximes RCo(DH)₂H₂O (DH = dimethylglyoximate) and iodine in methanol has been studied and a comparison made with the corresponding reaction in chloroform. The effect of the solvent on the reaction mechanism and the role of nucleophilic assistance are discussed.
