On the recombination mechanism of atomic nitrogen near a catalytic surface in a stream of dissociated air

It is shown that the heterogeneous recombination of nitrogen atoms on a catalytically active surface in a stream of dissociated air is accompanied by intense gas-phase recombination of the nitrogen in exchange reactions whose rate is determined by the rate of heterogeneous recombination of atomic oxygen.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 3, pp. 156–158, May–June, 1980.
