Abstract: | A method is proposed for the separation and determination of mercury(II) in environmental samples after its extraction from
salicylate solution using triphenylphosphine sulphide (TPPS) as an extractant. The extraction conditions are optimized and
reported. The nature of the extracted species is ascertained by a plot of log of distribution ratio versus log of concentration
of salicylate and TPPS.
