| Abstract: | We investigate Penning ionization of O2 by He(23 S, 21 S) by means of electron spectroscopy. We give a detailed analysis of the reaction mechanism which completes and partly corrects earlier interpretations given by other authors. It becomes apparent that symmetry properties of the reaction partners play an important role. |
