| Abstract: | A rapid spectrophotometric method was developed for'the determination of sulfide in biodigester effluent solution. The method is based on the light absorption of colloidal silver sulfide. Hydrogen sulfide liberated in an acidic sample was carried out by hydrogen produced with KBH4 into the mixing solution of AgNO3-gelatin-NH3-C2H5OH to be absorbed and colour-developed. The process Was accomplished in only about 3 min. A linearity in the range of 1 to 10 ug S2- was obtained. The standard recovery of 1 fig S2- was 90%-101%. The determination range of sulfide in the samples was 0. 05-200 mg S2-/L. |
