Abstract:Under the condition of the different thicknesses of inlet boundary Layers, the outlet fields for the turbine cascades with high-turning straight, positive curved and negative curved blades were measured with five-hole bunch shaped probes in detail. The experimental results show that the thicknesses of inlet boundary layers only effect on the intensity and dimension of passage vortices and do not effect on their locations. In the case of any inlet boundary layer thickness in the cascade with straight blades upper and lower passage vortices meet at the cascade middle, and the high loss region of large area appeares there. The blade negative curving controlls passage vortices near the endwalls and reduces the total loss notably. The thicker the inlet boundary layers, the greater the proportion reducing the loss in the comparison with straight blades.
