Abstract: | The electronic absorption and luminescence spectra of the complexes cis-Ru(bpy)(dppe)X2] bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine, dppe is 1,2-bis(diphenylphosphino)ethane] in 4 : 1 ethanol-methanol mixtures at 77 and 293 K were measured, and the luminescence decay times were determined. As the field strength of the nonchromophoric ligand X increases in the order I- < Br- < Cl- < 1/2(CO3
2
-) < NCS- < NO2
- < CN-, the electronic transitions are blue-shifted, and the luminescence decay time becomes longer. |
