Prospects of Polymer Science for the 21st Century

The chief three characteristics of the 21st century are energy,material and health/environment (Green factor) in which the former two factors should follow the demands of the Green factor.Polymer will serve as the chief material to save energy consumption and be more (in quality and quantity) in demand for our modern social needs.The preview will consist of two main themes:1.Uniform polymers from controlled polymerization.Therefore the definition of polymer molecular weight should be changed .i.e. no longer the average values,2.Green polymers are mainly from the biodegradable polymers,while the bioinert polymers should be renewed in various recycle ways.Moreover,all of the polymers and their corresponding monomers should be synthesized in the so called green reactions.
