FTIR Spectroscopic Studies on the Conformational Changes of a Chiral Schiff Base Typed Liquid Crystal |

| Abstract: | FTIR spectroscopy was used to study the conformational changes occurring in the crystalline(K), smectic(S) and isotropic(I) phases of a chiral schiff base typed liquid crystal compound.The most prominent changes occur at the K-S transition. Wavenumber shifts as well as changes in band intensity are analyzed in terms of variations of intra- and inter-molecular interactions. |
