Abstract: | The activities of fiber-forming enzymes (glucansynthetase, peroxidase, cellulase) from smooth- and pubescent-seeded cotton were compared. Protein inhibitor from the smooth-seeded line was isolated and studied. One of the aspects of the mechanism regulating growth and differentiating epidermal cotton ovule cells into fiber was investigated.
