Almost commuting matrices

It is shown that if A and B are n × n complex matrices with $\text{A = A}{}^1\text{and}\text{∥AB ? BA∥</}\text{2?}{}^2\text{(n ? 1)}$, then there exist n × n matrices A′ and B′ with $\text{A′ = A′}{}^1\text{such that}\text{A′B′ = B′A′}\text{and}\text{∥A ? A′∥? ?, ∥B ? B′∥? ?}$.
