Abstract: | Experimental β?-strength functions (Sβ) are presented for the odd-mass Rb isotope sequence A=89to97. As expected from general nuclear structure considerations, but in contrast to present purely statistical concepts, these strength functions exhibit well separated “pygmy” resonances and a systematic behaviour as a function of mass number and β-decay energy. |
