Abstract: | We report the first electroreflectance study of the dilute magnetic semiconductor Hg1?xMnxTe in the photon energy region of 0.7–6 eV. The composition dependence of the E0 + Δ0, E1, E1 + Δ1, E0, E2, E2 + δ optical features has been determined for 0.015 ≤ × ≤ 0.23. We find that at room temperature the semimetal-semiconductor transition (Γ6 – Γ8 crossing) occurs at x = 0.05 ± 0.01. Discontinuities in the composition dependence of all the observed spectral features are seen at this value of x. |
