Abstract:The fluorescence characteristics of I5/I1 and I3/I1 of pyrene which is sensitive to the environment of probe was used to study the critical micelle concentration(cmc)of N-dodecylbetaine and N-tetradecylbetaine.The effect of salt concentration on the cmc values was studied.The results obtained indicate that cmc values determined from the parametersI5/I1 of pyrene are close to that from the surface tension measurements,and more accurate than that from I3/I1.
