| Abstract: | A detailed study of the decay of the emission intensity of the laser spark in air, Ar, Xe, Cl2, Br2, I2, ICl, NO2 and NO reveals an exponential component with one or two time constants and a non-exponential long-time component extending to 100 μsec. The emission volume at the beginning of the spark is shown to be considerably greater than the plasma core. |
