| Abstract: | We determined the third-order susceptibility of quartz by comparing third harmonic generation and a two-step process: second harmonic generation and two-wave mixing. The value of χxxx(3) is given as a function of χxxx(2)]2. The values of χxxx(3) of LiF and benzene are determined by comparison with quartz. |
