| Abstract: | The theory of predissociation is discussed for the broadening and shifts of molecular spectral lines. The application of the theory to the analysis of ultraviolet bands is based on the comparison between different isotopes of the same molecule. The theory is applied to absorption spectra of NO and good agreement is obtained with the experimental results. |
