Abstract:A new titrimetric method for the determination of aniline salts, e.g., aniline sulfate and certain derivatives is described. The aniline derivatives include p-nitroaniline, p-aminobenzoic acid, anthranilic acid, p-anisidine, sulfanilic acid, calcium p-aminosalicylate and sodium p-aminosalicylate. The mechanism of the reaction between N-bromosuccinimide and aniline as well as certain derivatives is discussed. The determination is done within the limits of 10 mg to 100 μg. The experimental error does not exceed ±2%. Comparative analysis of aniline sulfate by the proposed method and the previously recognized bromine method is reported. Also comparative analysis of calcium p-aminosalicylate by the proposed method and the official nitrite method is given. The method has been applied successfully to determine calcium p-aminosalicylate in blood and urine.
