The effect of free stream turbulence on the momentum,heat and mass transfer during flow around a sphere

On the basis of our own experimental investigations of the effect of the fluid stream turbulence on the mean heat transfer, a possibility of significant (up to about 60 per cent) intensification of the process was shown. In the second part of this work, the authors attempted to analyze phenomena which result in heat layer. The significant role of three-dimensional disturbances of the Goertler type in the process of formation of “pseudo-laminar” boundary layer, was emphasized.
