Trimethylphosphine and trimethylamine: Rearrangements common to their mass spectra

Metastable ions confirm the rearrangement of the M ? H]⁺ ion from trimethylphosphine and trimethylamine to give C₃H₅]⁺. Two-carbon fragments are seen but their origin is indeterminate. Extensive loss of H₂ occurs, confirmed by metastable ions, but not of CH₂.
