| Abstract: | A facile method for the synthesis of long chain alkyl tertiary mercaptans is suggested in this paper. This method proves to be more convenient and offers high yield. Seven tertiary mercaptans have been prepared by the reaction of p-toluene sulfonic acid and thiourea with tertiary alcohols followed by hydrolysis with sodium hydroxide. |
